Company description of ‘Cascina Tiole’, owner Massimo Grasso
The winery is located in the countryside village
called ‘Perno’, part of the
Monforte d’Alba municipality, located geographically at the center of
the Barolo
townships. It extends across 8 hectares of which 4 have been turned in
to vineyards.
The dominating grape sort is nebbiolo – a grape
produced in Alba’s 11 south
west
facing townships. It becomes Barolo after three years of aging in oak
barrels.
The winery
has been in the family’s possession since 1933, handed down from father
to son.
It has grown in size in the past 20 years due to the esteem Barolo wine
has
received all over the world.
I took over
the management of the winery in 2004 and I have invested significantly
both in
vineyard cultivation and in the cellar with intent to create a product
which
fulfills the highest standards of quality and authenticity. For me, the
Barolo is a passion !
So much labor and passion have gone in to each bottle of Barolo !
